What We Do
HopeInPieces is a student-led nonprofit organization aimed to encourage children in recovery to think critically, solve problems, and be creative with different solutions through their own pieces of art, which will then be transformed into puzzles.
In each session that we come in, we present a short story that describes a real-world challenge. The children are then encouraged to use their own imagination to come up with a solution – not just in words, but through a drawing of their own.
Once everyone has finished, the drawings will then be displayed anonymously, and the kids will voice their opinions and vote on which drawing best represents the strongest solution to the problem addressed. The winning artwork will then be used and turned into a custom puzzle, which then the groups will work on together in the next session – turning their ideas into something they can physically build and solve as a team.
As a nonprofit, our mission is to build creativity and problem-solving skills that can help create real changes into children’s lives, that not only empower the idea of excitement, but also help rebuild a sense of hope, piece by piece. Our team is made up of passionate students who believes that small steps, can bring forth unrevealed imagination and strong critical thinking skills, that can lead to meaningful impact towards children in hospitals.
